Eucharistic Adoration veneration of the Blessed Sacrament - where did this come from - has this devotion always existed - how did this devotion begin - has the Church formally approved Eucharistic Adoration - is there any Old Testament influence?  Interesting questions.

When we consider our status as New Testament children of God we enjoy a filial family Father-child relationship with God.  Our Old Testament ancestors had a much more formal relationship with God.

While Moses had had a "face to face" relationship with God, the High Priest who represented the people was allowed to enter the Holy of Holies (God's dwelling place on earth) only once a year!  The people of God at that time were not permitted to enter the Holy of Holies.  We enter the Holy of Holies every time we come to Mass or Eucharistic Adoration.  We have the opportunity to worship God, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit at every Mass!  Outside the Mass, Eucharistic Adoration gives us "face to face" worship for hours.
